Well, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow so, we can expect six more weeks of winter. Hopefully that means a lot of snow as we are only about 58% of average right now. Luckily, we have some fun and informative events coming up to keep your mind off the winter doldrums!
If you attended our Past Presidents Winter Gala (formerly the Hard Hat and High Heels Gala) you not only had a great time but, we raised a ton of money for the chapter's scholarship program. This event was our signature event of 2026, and it wouldn’t be possible without support from our members attending and our sponsors.
Celebrate!

It was a glorious night celebrating the Sierra Chapter's past presidents, Sierra Chapter Excellence in Engineering Award winners, and this year’s Tim Fleming Memorial Scholarship winners with an incredible skyline view of the city at night. This year’s scholarship winners are Alexander Hu (not pictured) and Md Musfiqur Rahman Bhuiya (Sifat), both from UC Davis.

We also awarded the chapter's Legacy Award to Tom and Donald Blackburn, of Blackburn Consulting, the first ever father/son duo to serve as Sierra Chapter President. Congratulations to you both as valuable industry partners and friends.
Speaking of awards, ACEC CA is holding its annual conference and Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on February 18 and 19 at the Disneyland Hotel.
Several of our member firms will receive awards at this event. I hope to see some of you there!
Plus, remember to celebrate Engineers Week, February 23-27.
Upcoming Events
Looking forward to March, we have a joint dinner meeting with North Region Calmentor on March 19, at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West. Our guest speaker is Greg Wong, CT District 3 Deputy District Director, Program Management.
Registration closes March 11.
